Rahim Rezaie
Executive Director
Dr. Rahim Rezaie is a multidisciplinary expert in technological innovation, science and innovation policy, and international development, with a particular focus on health and related technologies. He brings extensive experience in research, program development, and strategic consulting across academic, nonprofit, and government sectors.
Prior to joining ICI, Dr. Rezaie served as a consultant on science policy, sustainability, and industrial strategy. He played a key role in developing and securing significant funding for several pioneering research and educational programs at the University of Toronto (UofT) and beyond. He has taught on technology innovation, engineering capacity building, and economic development and serves as an Adjunct Lecturer at UofT’s Faculty of Pharmacy.
Dr. Rezaie holds a BSc in Cell and Molecular Biology, a Master’s in Biotechnology, and a PhD from the University of Toronto, where his research examined health technology innovation by domestic enterprises in China, India, and Brazil. He has completed fellowships at the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada and UofT’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Rotman School of Management, exploring topics including the implications of rising innovation capacity in China and India for Canada, the globalization of leading-edge science, and pro-poor innovation strategies. His research has been published in leading academic journals including Nature Biotechnology and PLOS One.
