Overview
In partnership with Carleton University's Bachelor of Media Production and Design program, ICI Canada is developing innovative digital storytelling approaches to help citizens understand and engage with the complex challenges of our time. This project aims to make the concept of the polycrisis more accessible and actionable for broader audiences.
Key focus areas:
- Understanding citizen perspectives on global risks
- Facilitating community conversations
- Empowering citizen engagement
- Leveraging digital technologies for common understanding
- Exploring storytelling's role in adaptation
Purpose
While the polycrisis affects everyone, discussions about interconnected global risks often remain within policy and academic circles. This project seeks to bridge that gap by creating engaging digital narratives that help citizens—especially young people—understand how various challenges like climate change, social fragmentation, and disinformation connect to their daily lives and future prospects.
Development Partnership
A team of final-year students from Carleton University's Bachelor of Media Production and Design program will work on creating compelling digital narratives. This collaboration brings together fresh perspectives and creative expertise in digital storytelling, civic engagement, and systems thinking.
Impact
This initiative will help:
- Make complex global challenges more understandable
- Foster productive community dialogues
- Empower citizen participation in solutions
- Build bridges between policy discussions and public understanding
- Create inclusive learning environments
Project Status
Currently in development with Carleton University students. Project to be completed in April 2024.
